Reading is one of my favorite recreational activities. It’s an honor to help bring to life several book covers and layouts for some talented authors. Be sure to give their work a follow and purchase a copy of their book!
Harbinger Book Cover
Personal Project // Book Cover Design
Client + Author // Maxine Hayes
Maxine is a budding author with an aptitude for writing horror and gore. She contacted me to work on the art for her second book, Harbinger. After several rounds of sketches, we landed on a scene from the beginning of the book that features both main characters standing in an alley with the full moon behind them. We leaned into the horror theme with the slasher-style lettering and black and red palette. This design pushed my illustration abilities as I haven’t drawn people in a long time. I love the moodiness of this cover and how it carries over to the back of the book. My favorite element is Locke’s ice-blue eyes which are prevalent in the story in various scenes.
Memoirs of a Dream Witch Book Cover

Client + Author // Maxine Hayes
Maxine is a budding author with an aptitude for writing horror and gore. She reached out to me to work on the art for her first book, Memoirs of a Dream Witch. After presenting 3 initial sketch concepts, we landed on one with a lantern and orange flower from one of the stories in her book.
“I love the way it's poised, like wandering lost through a hedge maze deep in the forest with those little orange flowers and the vines creeping out of those tightly locked blue-green brushes, and at a dead-end, you find the lantern with the little flower by itself burning as bright as a flame would. Like suddenly, the trees looming overhead no longer seem to be closing in on you so much. And the serif font is so beautiful, like finding a really old book in a forgotten library that lay untouched amongst damage-ridden shelves.” – Maxine Hayes

Client // Gary Hinsche
Recognition // Gold Addy, AAF Dayton
Gary Hinsche is a hard-edge artist and designer. His alphabet series is one of my favorite bodies of work he’s created. He portrayed each letter of the alphabet in his signature style and color palette. Hinsche is a true mastermind of geometry a shape. I recreated his art in Illustrator and laid out the book with his direction. This series consists of small art prints all the way up to 5’ canvas paintings.
